A small coffee bar on Satoshi Way. We serve specialty coffee and flat whites, and every Tuesday at 8pm the tables are given over to a Nostr meetup.

What specialty coffee means here

Specialty is a grade, not a mood. Green coffee is scored for defects and flavor before it is bought, and the lots that score well are the ones a specialty roaster pays for. That grading marks the difference between coffee that tastes of a place and a variety, and coffee that just tastes roasted.

In the cup it shows up as clarity. Fruit, florals, sugar and origin come through instead of being buried. It also leaves less room to hide behind the roast: a light roast and a thin milk foam expose stale beans and a sloppy extraction.

  • Beans rested after roasting and ground to order
  • Espresso tasted and adjusted through the day
  • Milk steamed to microfoam for texture, not volume
  • A short list of coffees, changed as lots run out

The flat white

A flat white is a double shot of espresso with steamed milk poured to a thin, glossy microfoam. It is smaller than a latte and less airy than a cappuccino, so the coffee stays in front and the milk sits behind it.

Ours is a double shot with milk steamed to microfoam, poured so the surface settles flat and even in a small ceramic cup.
